A post about dpns

Image
I’ve always been a fan of wooden dpns. They feel good in hand , the yarn stays put well, and they usually have good sharp points. All great things when you are knitting socks, which is what I knit the most on dpns.  But as luck would have it I broke one of my favorite needles and needed a new set. I’m always keen to try new knitting products when I can afford to so I took the opportunity to order a set of Karbonz dpns.  I’m sure everyone that knits socks has already tried these  I’m really loving these needles!  They get a big 5 star review from me!  They feel great in hand  they have great sharp points and hold onto the yarn really well   My only con would be I wish these were 5” instead of 6” needles  But I will get used to the length I think  I’m now keen to try a pair of the Karbonz interchangeable needles!

Brainstorm

Brainstorm Socks Last Updated 7/15/23 These little top down socks are probably the easiest socks you will ever knit! Really! No stitches to pick up, no kitchner stitch weaving, just knit straight through from beginning to end! There’s no cuff or leg to speak of. You basically knit a tiny roll and then begin the heel and off you go! Materials Needed: Approximately 50 grams of fingering weight sock yarn A set of 5 dpns in size 0-2 US depending on your gauge A needle to weave in the ends The examples were knit in Knitpicks Stroll (pink) and Lornas Laces Shepherd Sock in “Maple Leaves”. I used approximately 47 grams of yarn for each pair. Finished measurements: Sized to fit average women's foot - Foot length: 9-1⁄4 inches Leg and foot Pattern : Note: This pattern is only kni...

Sunstreak

Image
Sunstreak I've been tinkering with sock patterns again and expanded on one of my previous patterns. If you are new to sock knitting this is a perfect beginner sock pattern for you to learn with. It removes all the harder skills of picking up stitches, or kitchener stitch, which most sock patterns incorporate. These socks are probably the easiest socks you will ever knit! Really! This sock pattern is built exactly like my Brainstorm sock pattern, extending the leg and adding a cuff, instead of a rolled cuff sock. Sunstreak . Still super simple though. Easy to memorize. Abbreviations: M1 = make 1 stitch. You can do this in whatever increase style you like best. K = knit P = purl K2T = knit 2 together P2T = purl 2 together K1TBL = knit 1 stitch through the back loop SSN = slip 1 stitch, slip one stitc...

And away we go

I have to laugh now.  I'm wondering how many times I've started a new blog? The answer is a few.  But the ones I stuck with the longest were called "Seems to Me" and "Knitting Interrupted".  I really wish I could pull the content from the old knitting blog into here but it's long gone.  So, here I am starting a new one.   I guess I should say that I've titled this blog "RBW Knits" because that's my id on IG and Ravelry, and I'm an obsessive knitter, and pattern crafter.  I needed a space to think out loud, to catalog what I'm working on that's just mine. So here we are... I hope you'll follow along and leave great comments when you see something you are interested in or have something to add. Knitters love to share! Becky
